De longa data muito amigo do cantor Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter além de musico é surfista profissional.
Em 2004 em seu primeiro album intitulado com o seu nome, Donavon assinou contrato com a Universal Music, alcançando o top 40 na Austrália.
