1. Nobody Loves Me
NOBODY LOVES ME - words and music by Derek Webb
Capo 4
VERSES: G - Fmaj7 - C
Well I can always tell a liar and I always know a thief
Well I know I'm like my family because brother I'm the chief
Well I'm a dangerous crusader 'cause I need to tell the truth
So I'm turnin' over tables in my own living room
D C
But I might nail indictments up on every door in town
D C
'Cause its not right or safe to let your conscience down
Fmaj7
So i don't care if
CHORUS:
G Fmaj7 C
Nobody loves me
G Fmaj7 C
Nobody loves me
G FMaj7 C Fmaj7 C
Nobody loves me...but you
'Cause the truth is never sexy
So it's not an easy sell
Well you can dress her like the culture
And she'll shock 'em just as well
And she don't need an apology
For bein' who she is
And she don't need your help makin' enemies
So i don't care if
So I'll do whatever it takes
To fit us into this wedding gown
I'll use words that rattle your nerves
words like 'sin' and 'faith alone' now...
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me...but you

C D
'Cause that's still the way
C D? G (C instead after first Chorus)
He takes to the world
Verse 2:

Pre-Chorus
Chorus (2x)
4. Nothing(Without You)
Not Available
5. Lover
Capo 4 (album version capo 5)
Intro: C (hammers on G string on the 2nd fret, then on the D string on fret 2 and 3)
C
Like a man comes to an altar
F C
I came into this town
Em
With the world upon my shoulders
F G(hammers D string on 2nd and 3rd frets)
and promises passed down
Am Em
I went into the water
F G(hammers D string on frets 2 and 3, walks back down into the C)
My father, he was pleased
C Am G
I built it and I’ll tear it down
F G C
So you will be set free
But I found thieves and salesmen
Living in my father's house
I know how they got in here
and I know how to get them out
I’m turning this place over
From floor to balcony
and then just like these doves and sheep
Oh, you will be set free
I’ve always been a lover
Before I drew a breath
Some things I loved easy
and some I’ll loved to death
Because love's a politician
It listens carefully
So of those who come, I can't lose one
So you will be set free
But go on and take my picture
Go on and make me up
I’ll still be your defender
You’ll be my missing son
I’ll send out an army
Just to bring you back to me
Because regardless of your brother's lies
Oh, you will be set free
I am my beloved’s
and my beloved’s mine
So you bring all your history
I’ll bring the bread and wine
and we'll have us a party
Where all drinks are on me
Because as surely as the rising sun
Oh, you will be set free
Ending: C, C/B, Am, G, F, G, C

B -0-0--3--3-3-2-
E -X-X--0--3-X-0-
The keys to this song are simple. At the end of every verse riff, the little
fill part is really simple. Just keep your first finger on A1, then hammer
on and off quickly on G2, then D2. I find that little hammers occasionally
on the D string during F’s, and on the G string during the chorus C
transition to Em are nice as well. Season to taste I guess! And I'd say run
your guitar with just a little bit of crunch (via distortion, gain on a tube
amp, whatever)...not much. And light reverb (very light).
Am F2 C
If you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all I’d ever need
or is there more I’m looking for
and should I read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise
is that really what you want
(chorus)
F
I am a whore I do confess
Am
but I put you on just like a wedding dress
C2
and I run down the aisle
Em
and I run down the aisle
I’m a prodigal with no way home
but I put you on just like a ring of gold
and I run down the aisle to you
so could you love this bastard child
though I don’t trust you to provide
with one hand in a pot of gold
and with the other in your side
I am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers so less wild
that I would take a little cash
over your very flesh and blood
(chorus)
because money cannot buy
a husband’s jealous eye
when you have knowingly deceived his wife

Intro
The main riff is easy, you start on that A2, slide up to B2, slide back to
A2, then just hammer off and on between the A and the A2 for fill. Listen to
the song and you'll get it quick.
V1:
A D A
If you want my glory, you've got to take my sin
D A
If you want my future, you've got to take my skin
A7 D2
If you want my heart, you got to take my blood
A7 A
If you want my pledge, you've got to take my lust
CHORUS:
D G D
I'm not a half a man;
A
I'm not a half a man.
D G D
God knows I love you now;
A7 A
but a saint and a sinner is what I am.
V2:
If you want my spirit, you've got take my blues
If you want my mystery, you've got take my clues
If you want my child, you've got take my kin
If you want my money, you've got to take my rent
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
E
And it doesn't get better, once you've seen the light
D A
you wait and find, your fight has just begun
E
Used to be a damn mess but now I look just fine,
D E

There are lots of little hits/pulls on the B string during the Am, C, & F chords in the intro
and verses- add to taste. During the "solo" Derek plays the same verse progression only
adding a few more fun fills on the B and high E strings on the 3rd & 1st fret- Chorus:
I'm unsure of the 3rd chord in the 2nd line of the chorus, I can't figure if it's a funny G
or a C that has the low E on 2 like the Am/F# before it, or what. I'm open to suggestions.
[Intro]

[V1]
C F
Beloved, these are dangerous times

And now you, would rather be

Beloved, these are perilous days
When your culture, is so set in it's ways
And it will listen, to salesmen and theives
Preaching other, than the truth you’ve received
'Cause they, are telling lies
For they can not cirucumsize
Your hearts...
[Chorus]
