Colin Hay é um músico escocês, mas conhecido por australiano, já que desde a adolescência morou na Austrália.
Seu nome de batismo é Colin James Hay, e ele nasceu em 1953 em Saltcoats, uma localidade da Escócia. A família se mudou para a Austrália quando ele tinha 14 anos. Nessa época, Colin começou a se interessar em tocar guitarra e cantar. Em 1978, junto com Ron Strykert (guitarra), Greg Ham (sax e flauta), John Rees (baixo) e Jerry Speiser (bateria), formaram o Men at Work, que se tornou um sucesso e um ícone do surf-rock.
