Colin Hay has played this song in at least three different ways, not counting the Men At Work version(s). This particular version is based on the the Scrubs episode as well as many of his live performances on YouTube.
Note that when he plays this live the guitar is tuned standard. The Scrubs version, however, seems to be tuned 1/2 step down. He also plays an Acoustic version in D which I also transcribed in a separate tab.
Don't let the chords scare you on this one. Follow the chord chart below for best results. If you want to make the verses even easier you can use your first finger and pinky to play the fingerings on the D and A strings and mute the rest. Another tip...For the transition from G# to G#7 in the chorus just lift your pinky.
EE7 I can't get to sleep DD7 I think about the implications EE7 Of diving in too deep DD7 And possibly the complications EE7 Especially at night DD7 I worry over situations EE7 I know will be alright DD7 Perhaps its just my imagination
[Chorus]
C#mBsus4B Day after day it reappears C#mBsus4B Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear G#G#7A Ghosts appear and fade away Bsus4B
[Verse]
EE7 Alone between the sheets DD7 Only brings exasperation EE7 It's time to walk the streets DD7 Smell the desperation EE7 At least there's pretty lights DD7 And though there's little variation EE7 It nullifies the night DD7 from overkill
[Chorus]
C#mBsus4B Day after day it reappears C#mBsus4B Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear G#G#7A Ghosts appear and fade away Bsus4B Come back another da-a-ay
EE7 I can't get to sleep DD7 I think about the implications EE7 Of diving in too deep DD7 And possibly the complications EE7 Especially at night DD7 I worry over situations EE7 I know will be alright DD7 It's just overkill
[Chorus]
