Biografia:
Enquanto blink fazia uma pausa em 2002, DeLonge formou o Box Car Racer para experimentar e testar idéias que ele tinha mas não as colocava nas canções da antiga banda. Tom logo recrutou Travis Barker justificando, na época do hiato do blink, que o motivo era para não ter que pagar por um baterista de estúdio.
Pegando Barker do blink-182 e David Kennedy (amigo de infância de Tom), gravaram seu álbum homônimo Box Car Racer em 2002. No álbum Tom fez todo o trabalho do baixo, mas Anthony Celestino foi quem tocou em suas apresentações.
