Alanis Nadine Morissette (Ottawa, Canada 01/06/1974) muito influenciada pelo som de Tori Amos, lançou-se ao rock, em 1995, com Jagged Little Pill, álbum clássico que contou com a colaboração de Flea do Red Hot Chili Peppers e Dave Navarro do Jane's Addiction além de a consagrar como o maior ícone do rock emocional da atualidade. Com uma sonoridade muito próxima à de artistas como Cranberries, Garbage, Liz Phair e Fiona Apple, Alanis oscila entre o alternativo e o rock.
