There have probably been dozens of punk bands called The Blanks or simply Blanks
One of those bands put out the 7" single described at hyped2death.com:
"BLANKS -Break Down (Void 560) Peterborough '79 The Blanks were briefly notorious for "Northern Ripper," based on the exploits of Peter Sutcliffe, the "Yorkshire Ripper" (although the supposed recording of his voice that leads off the song turned out to be a hoax). Meanwhile, "Breakdown" -one of the flipsides- is first-rate DIYpunk scrubbing.
