Rancid é uma banda de punk rock com influências de ska, formada em Albany, CA, Estados Unidos, em 1991.
A história do Rancid tem inicio com Tim Armstrong e Matt Freeman, que se conhecem desde os 5 anos de idade. Desde então sempre foram muito amigos, frequentando as mesmas escolas, e fazendo parte do mesmo grupo de amigos. Em meados de 1987 fundaram juntos uma banda de ska-punk chamada Operation Ivy, que contava tambem com Jesse Michaels e Dave Mello em sua formação.
