Voodoo
By Queen & Paul Rogers
This is a beautifully simple song, with all the verses consisting of a single
chord (Am7... listen to the track for timing, etc.). If you want, you can
vary by using different voicings/positions of the basic chord. There is a D5
in the intro. The main colour of the piece comes from Brian May's fills,
licks and solos, which are basic pentatonics. A great one to practice your
blues licks to. At some point I plan to get Brian May's lead guitar tabbed,
but that could take a while as I've never tried to tab before!
The G of the chorus has a tonal variation on the second string:
e-|3-------3--3--3--3-------|
B-|0-------3--3--3--0-------|
G-|0-------0--0--0--0-------|
D-|0------------------------| (let the bottom three strings ring throughout)
A-|2------------------------|
E-|3------------------------|
Am7
When the moon rises, the dogs will howl
Look out of your window, I'll be on the prowl
I'm not usually a gambling man
But oh, I just wanna hold up my hands and say
A G
I'm taking a chance on your love
A G
Woah, I'm taking a chance on your love
Am7
I'm not superstitious and I don't wear no charm
I don't carry my heart on the sleeve of my arm
Seven years of bad luck, please, don't worry me
'Cause when I look in to the mirror, here's the future I see
A G
I'm taking a chance on your love
A G
Woah, I'm taking a chance on your love
Am7
Place your bets, better yet
Don't forget what I said
Roll the dice, spin the wheel
Always remember, you've got to keep it real
I don't believe in voodoo, black magic was never my style
But I believe that you do, and it won't take much time
To gather the portions that weave your magic spell, yeah
The moon on the ocean has a secret to tell, but anyway
A G
I'm taking a chance on your love
A G
Woah, I'm taking a chance on your love
A G
Woah, I'm taking a chance on your love
A
Yeah
