This is the Song Punch Brothers
01/27/2012 (transposed by Tom Karleskint)
Ive found two ways I like to play the song.
One is an Am progression with the capo on the 4 in standard tuning
my preferred way is tuned a whole step down (DGCFAD) and in Em
in either tuning I like to let the E string ring open despite the chords I play
capo 4 in standard tuning
verse Am G F Dm9
chorus Dm Bb F G Bb F
in DGCFAD tuning
Em D C Asus9
Am F C D F C
verse Em D C Asus9
This is the song where I listen
This is the song where I sit still
I called the dogs off all the things Im missin
And to everyone but you before I set sail
chorus Am F C D F C
I said good luck good luck good luck
These are tough times
But well get by
Good Luck (stay on C an extra measure)C B (into Em)
verse Em D C Asus9
This is the song where you speak up
This is the song where you get moving
You cried some trouble out into a teacup
(stay on C)
And to me but no one else before you threw it
chorus Am F C D F C
You said good luck good luck good luck
These are tough times
but we ll get by
Good luck (stay on C an extra measure) C B (into Em)
(mandolin solo verse chords)
verse Em D C Asus9
I put ashore in front of our apartment,
and watched you comb the stoop for shards of porcelain
Satisfied that there were none you broke the silence
And after this I promised not to interrupt again
(stop)
Cause this is the song where I listen
This is the song where I sit still
Until our heartbeats drown out the clock tickin
And the song is just I love you and always will
(stop for a moment)
chorus Am F C D F C
Good Luck Good Luck Good Luck
These Are tough Times
We ll get by
Good luck
D
These are tough times
F
We ll get by
C
Good Luck
D
These are tough times
F
We ll get by
C
Good luck
