Matt Hires, nascido em 5 de agosto de 1985, em Tampa, Florida, começou a carreira tocando em barzinhos pela noite, enquanto trabalhava em uma loja de móveis durante o dia.
Sempre tendo uma paixão pela musica, Matt se inspirou em músicos como Bob Dylan e Tom Petty, o que explica a harmonia em suas melodias.
Em seu primeiro álbum, intitulado Take Us To The Start, lançado em 28 de julho de 2009, Matt trabalhou com o produtor Eric Rosse (Sara Bareilles, Tori Amos, David Archuleta).
