Mastodon é uma banda de heavy metal americana de Atlanta, Georgia, formada em 1999.
A banda é uma das mais notáveis na New Wave of American Heavy Metal, tendo influências de sludge metal, progressivo, hardcore, stoner rock e outras. A música do grupo contém riffs pesados, técnicos e complexos, com percussão influenciada pelo jazz, e longos e melódicos interlúdios trechos instrumentais, inspirados pelo amor que a banda tem ao rock progressivo dos anos 70. Outra característica da banda é a variação de vocais.
