Fundada en 1982, The Toasters foi a primeira banda de ska dos Estados Unidos, formada pelo inglês Rob "Bucket" Hingley que vivia há pouco nem Nova York.
Influenciados pela segunda onda do ska, onde se encontram bandas como The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, The Beat e outras, fazem parte da terceira onda, que tem sua força na variedade e mistura de ritmos como reggae, jazz, soul, dancehall, rap e rock.

DD It was 1964 and the rhythm just wouldn't stop, DDA People banging on the door to hear "My boy Lollipop" DG Then the 70's came and with it the 2 Tone scene... DAD People shakin' their heads at the rudies on the record machine
DD Now the 90's are here with the new bands bringin' it to you DA Skins and rudies-and even some punk rock, too! DG But the boys are still playing and the music is coming out live! DAD Down at your jukebox, dancing on a Saturday night!
