The Stone Roses foi um dos mais influentes grupos de rock inglês entre o final da década de 1980 e o começo da década seguinte, formando juntamente com o Happy Mondays e o The Charlatans o movimento conhecido como Madchester, na cidade de Manchester, Inglaterra. As influências da banda eram a emergente cena acid house e eletrônica da cidade e do Reino Unido e incorporava nitidamente The Byrds e Simon and Garfunkel nas melodias vocais e harmonias
