Intro (0:00)
F#m
Verse (0:07)
F#m It's not that I don't love you Or are tired of your ways E I want you to know
F#m That's I'm always thinking of you You know I'd take you with me E Wherever I go
Verse (0:36)
F#m But I catch myself in the mirror E And I remember I gotta do something about my life F#m For I'm as empty as the clothes that I laid E Crumpled where they fell to the floor
Verse (1:04)
F#m I'm as empty as the ten green bottles E Hanging in my mind from the night before F#m And an ashtray full of moments E Spent thinking about the things I should have done
Chorus (1:30)
F#m I say goodbye to another old friend E Yeah they stayed through thick and thin F#m Through the laughter and the tears E Through every state that I've been in
F#m And I know they don't wanna hurt me E But I can see it in their eyes F#m That they're killing me so gently E How can I ever say goodbye
Verse (2:26)
F#m For as young me we clattered through these streets E And how we hit this town running F#m And we were so sure of being us E We flattened everything that stood in our path F#m Now I wake up and I have to find myself E Through all the shit that once told me who I was
Chorus (3:04)
F#m I say goodbye to so many old friends E Here I left them to the wind F#m And there ain't much point in chasing E The things you can never get back again
F#m But there's still some life in this one E Give me a match and I'll reminisce F#m Of a time when we were younger E And we were stealing our first crack
Verse (3:58)
F#m And our thoughts had turned to dying E And we were unaware at the time F#m That this ride it could ever fall... E Could ever slow down to this time...
Verse (4:24)
F#m For I've been drunk and stoned and feeling mellow E And that's how I've been getting through F#m Looking at the blurry shapes around me E Thinking I knew more than I knew
Verse (4:52)
F#m And it's not that I don't love you E Or are tired of your ways F#m If I could only take you with me E If I could only ease this pain
