Comprised of childhood friends, lead vocalist and guitarist Andy Schmidt and drummer Brad Booker, later bringing in bassist Kevin Gagnepain when all three were enrolled in the University of Missouri-Columbia, St. Louis's Stir have been making a name for themselves through their extensive touring and glossy power-pop. Originally signed by Aware Records after their showcase at the 1995 South By Southwest festival, their self-titled debut, though rather low budget, received some airplay.

CAPO 2nd Fret (All chords relative to Capo)
Intro: E-F#m-A x2
EF#mA Talk to me so slow that I can hear you EF#mA Cause what you say makes so much sense to me EF#mA Here I'll stand with nothing on my mind EF#mA Forgetting everything I'm supposed to say EF#mA As I start learning more you'll whisper to me EF#mA And tell me what to wish for when I dream the day away EF#mA Cause I know that you're the one to teach me something EF#mA Like who I am and how to make my way
CHORUS:
AA/AbF#m And when all these things become clear AA/AbF#m I'll thank you for making all these things seem so clear
So clear
EF#mA Take me to your favorite places EF#mA Where no one knows me but they all know you EF#mA I'll hide my fears and stand right by your side EF#mA As the whole world looks up at you EF#mA I hope that you stay shaven clean and somewhat sober EF#mA The bottle runs like water but to me it's all the same EF#mA So stay with me and be a father EF#mA And teach me how to read and write my name
CHORUS
E-A-E-A-B
AA/Ab And just when you think I am crazy shy and have no feelings F#m I'll look at you and slowly say your name AA/Ab And I'm thinking someday, maybe, I'll be just like you B And I'll never cry and I'll never be afraid
AA/AbF#m But not until all these things become clear AA/AbF#m Will I thank you for making all these things seem so clear AA/AbF#m Thank you for making all these things seem so clear
