Start the intro with a single C sharp note (B string, second fret), as an upbeat before the D chord.
Use much vibrato.
The quick E - E6 - E7 on each line 2 is rather optional – do it if you like, vary your playing.
Play an ordinary E chord and put your little finger on the B string second fret, then third fret.
You don't need to play a complete F#m/E chord on line 4 of each verse and chorus. Just play a E bass note.
Or skip it completely and go directly from F#m to D.
