Ruthie Foster é uma cantora e compositora americana no estilo folk-blues.
Natural de Gause, Texas veio de uma familia de cantores gospel. Estudou musica no McLennan Community College e foi da marinha americana onde, nas horas de folga, fazia suas apresentações para os companheiros do navio.
Sua carreira começou mesmo em 1997 quando tocou no Estados Unidos, Europa e Australia.
Segundo a critica especializada, ela é uma mistura de Ella Fitzgerald com Aretha Franklin.
