The Rich Kids fue una banda de punk y power pop formada en 1977 por Midge Ure, Glen Matlock, Steve New y Rusty Egan. Casi todos ellos a excepción de éste último habían tocado o audicionado para diferentes bandas: Ure (guitarra, teclados, voz) había tocado en Slik (banda que seguía la ola de pop y algo de glam) y PVC2, y también había audicionado para formar parte de los Sex Pistols; Matlock (bajo) había sido echado de ésta banda; y New había audicionado para London SS
