Just Passing Through
C G7
It is getting colder, winter?s moving in
The red tail hawk rides the fading thermals
C
And the ice clouds are back again
G7 C
The old man slowly pencils in his journal
C G7
Squirrels stashing acorns in tree nests,
Dumb blue jay hides his under falling leaves,
C
And the junco never seems to rest.
G7 C
The old man begins to ponder bringing in the sheaves
[Chorus]
C
The icicles are forming,
G7
And the fire is nearly out;
G
It will all be over by morning
C
Another pioneer, gone without a shout
C G7
Red-sky sunsets, that?s the way it is
Animals move at a slower pace,
C
The wind blasts through log walls with a hiss
G7 C
And the old man pulls the heavy comfort closer to his face.
[Chorus]
C
The icicles are forming
G7
And the fire is nearly out
G
It will all be over by morning
C
Another pioneer, gone without a shout
