Snow's falling softly and the grass is still green

The captain above me is so luminously clean

We’re daisy companions a man and his piece
G Em D7 G
Silver and shadow and clothes just a dream
Oh I hear you heaving a-kicking dirt
I know that it's broken And I know that it hurts
There's a river of nothing And you die in a thirst
Just one sip and off you swing To the last day you'll work
Do you die like an Irish In an anthracite mine
Are you alive like the first night With your candle lit bright
She's your darling companion And so thoughtlessly kind
Ride out to meet her, the day we survive

Not convinced by some of the lyrics, and can't make my mind up about the D7, it might
just be a D or it might
go D to D7. The chord for the last word of the last line I haven't sorted yet, but as
I'm playing it fairly low
key and acoustic I'm playing C on ..."survive" and then resolving to G.
