O Yo La Tengo é uma das bandas que menos possui o reconhecimento que merecia ter na história recente do rock alternativo. Sua trajetória, que ocupa boa parte da década de 80 e daí em diante, é recheada de excelentes discos, boa reputação perante à crítica e respeito em geral no meio musical, além da rara integridade e consistência em sua obra que remete a outros grandes nomes como o Sonic Youth e R.E.M..
