Warren Zevon (1947) compunha sobre homicídio, paixões desesperadas, espionagem, solidão, e pasmaceira com tamanho engenho (e de certa forma confessional) e graça que poucos conseguiram alcançar. Quando o cantor-compositor-pianista sucumbiu ao câncer pulmonar em 2003, o mundo da música perdeu uma voz verdadeiramente original. Reconhecido pela ironia com que encarava a vida, suas canções eram carregadas de um humor deliciosamente negro, por vezes, de temática política.
