Trout Fishing in America is the long-standing musical partnership of Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. The name taken from a Richard Brautigan novel, seems almost as incongruent and intriguing as a picture of this musical duo - Ezra Idlet (guitar) stands six feet nine inches and Keith Grimwood (bass), five feet five and one half inches. What is more intriguing is the musical career these two have carved out in three decades of writing, recording and performing together.

Mandaddy By Dana Cooper As performed by Trout Fishing in America on the album "Who Are These People"
This is an approximation for those who are guitar-challenged. The chord struc ture is correct, as is the key, but Ezra does play some rather interesting chords that are unintelligible to me!!
E Summer is coming, catfish are jumping DA The willows are weeping up the river E Mandaddy's wagon comes rattling and dragging AB His magical route E He's bringing ghost stories and bright penny whistles DA White Chinese muzzles in tins of glory EDAE Look on the horizon and see the dust rolling down the road
Chorus: BAE My name is Mandaddy and I roam these hills BAE I sing and I whistle and I'll cure your ills AC#mF# Oh Mandaddy, Oh Mandaddy's gonna cure your ills BE Mandaddy's gonna cure your ills
E He walks like a farmer, talks like warm water DA Smells like tobacco and gun powder E He's bringing red garters and bright copper kettles AB and brown leather shoes E He says, "I remember when your folks was young'uns DA Laughing and running in Indian summer EDAE They'd watch the horizon and see the dust rolling down the road!"
Chorus
E Everything changes, it's only natural DA Nothing remains as it once started E This time next summer I may not be here, hear what I say E Children I love you, you make life worth living EA The rivers worth crossing the gifts worth giving EDAE Look on the horizon and see the dust rolling down the road
