NOTE: This tab is based on the key of the original hit single recording.
There are rarer live performances which can be found on YouTube played
a semi-tone up, and also some much later live versions a semi-tone down.
For Keith Podger's original part, his 12 string was tuned down a whole
tone to D-G-C-F-A-D, and he played the song in C, but with the dropped
tuning the song then sounded in the key of B.
As well as the blend of the 6 and 12 string guitars, the detuning takes
some strain off a 12 string's neck and adds extra tones and harmonics
which gave the band a much fuller live sound.
The usual conventional 12 string pairing of the lower 4 strings in octaves
and the higher 2 strings in unison still applies with this dropped tuning.
Bruce Woodley plays the song on his six string in standard tuning as below:
CAPO: 4th fret (Will then sound in the original recorded key of B)
Chord names and fret positions are relative to the capo position:
G = 320003 F = 133211 D7 = xx0212
Bm = x24432 Dsus2 = xx0230 A = x02220
C = x32010 Em = 022000 Em7/D = xx0000
D4 = xx0233 B = x24442 Am7 = x02213
D = xx0232 E = 022100 C/G = 332010
A = x02220 C/G * = 3x2013
