John Holt, esse é o nome dessa super fera Jamaicana. Considerado uma das mais belas vozes do reggae music, chamado também de voz de ouro em sua terra natal, John é um dos artistas mais aclamados pela crítica. Mesmo com tanto sucesso mundial ele não chegou a se firmar como deveria no Brasil, porém é muito conhecido em São Luís do Maranhão, onde embalou e ainda embala muitos bailes reggae. A música The Carpinter, foi um dos reggaes mais tocados no circuito reggae maranhense na década de 80.
