Casey James é natural de Fort Worth, Texas, Estados Unidos. Aos 27 anos de idade, participou da 9ª temporada de American Idol, esteve presente na audição de Denver incentivado por sua mãe, onde cantou o cover de John Mayer "Slow Dance In A Burning Room" terminou em 3º lugar na competição. Seu primeiro album de estudio, o autointitulado ''Casey James'' foi lançado em 20 de Março de 2012 nos EUA, ficando em 2º lugar no chart country. Seu atual single é ''Let's Don't Call It a Night''
