Em 1969, o mundo presencia os momentos finais dos Beatles, os Stones ainda não são gigantes e o Led Zeppelin dá seus primeiros passos. Neste contexto o Blind Faith surgiu quase que por acaso. Em busca de diversão, Clapton convidou o amigo Steve Winwood, e juntos começaram a levar algumas jams. Ginger Baker ficou sabendo da empreitada, e quis se juntar à dupla. A princípio Clapton foi contra, pois era da opinião que a presença de Baker transformaria o que era para ser uma simples reunião de amigos em algo muito maior
