Biografia:
A banda Altaria nasceu da parceria entre Marko Pukkila e Tony Smedjebacka, respectivamente baixista e baterista da banda Blindside, que no início de 2000 estava praticamente inativa. Inicialmente como um "projeto", o Altaria contava também com o vocalista Johan Mattjus (que Marko conheceu por acaso, durante uma viagem de trem), e com o guitarrista Jani Liimatainen, já mundialmente conhecido por seu trabalho com o Sonata Arctica.
