"WINTER RETREAT" by Judas Priest from the album Rocka Rolla
Part of the "Winter" themed portion of the first Priest album. A slower song that lends itself extremely well to acoustic. I have transcribed this in standard tuning. Listen to the album to pick up the timing, especially the tricky closing notes. I've noted some of the odd chords at the end of the transcription. The key to the song is the intro and the close. The song is mostly Am throughout, with improvised D7 thrown in.
intro: ED (repeat 3x) E/F#/Cmod/E EG
Am Now, winter wind fades from my face
Am My heart will no longer race
Am Sun smiling down from the sky
AmD7 Melts away ice from my eyes
Am Warmth...eases back to my soul
Am * C/B/Am7/G (repeat 3x) Em Bitterness shrugs then it goes
* This is where the tricky ending starts. The steady beat of the whole song turns into a descending half-rhythm. You probably won't pick it up without listening to the record.
