[Em7Gmaj7AA/B, Em7Gmaj7A A#dim7] I was a fool to care, [Em7 Dmaj7] I was a fool to care [F#7sus4 F#7 Bm7] I was a fool to care [Em7 Dmaj7] but I don't care even if I was a fool [Bm Gmaj7 F#m7 Em7 A4 A] I'm still in love with you [Dmaj7 F#7sus4 F#7]
Had I listened to the grapevine, [Bm7 Gmaj7 F#m7] I might have had my doubts [Em7 A4 Dmaj7] But I did my level best just to block them out [Bm7 Gmaj7 F#m7 Bm7 E7 D/F#] "Cause love is so unwise and love has no eyes [G A4 A7, D /c# /b /a] And it took a while for a fool to see [G D] what his friends were on about [E4 E7]

Imagining your face, [C G] it almost fills the empty space before me [C Am7 Dmaj7 D] I can see you eyes and almost hear your lovely lies [C G Fmaj7 Em7 A7] [F#7sus4F#7]
I wish I was an old man [Bm7 Gmaj7 F#m7] and love was through with me [Em7 A4 Dmaj7] I wish I was a baby on my mama's knee [Bm7 Gmaj7 F#m7 Bm7 E7 D/F#] I wish I was a freight train moving down the line [G A4 A7, D /c# /b /a] Just keeping track of time [G D] without all these memories [Bm E7]
I was a fool to care [G A D] I was a fool to care [F#7sus4 F#7 Bm7] I was a fool to care [Em7 Dmaj7 ] but I don't care even if I was a fool [Bm Gmaj7 F#m7 Em7 A4 A] I'm still in love with you [D F#7sus4 F#7] Baby, yes, I Am [Bm7Am7Gmaj7 ] I could have opened my eyes, [F#m7 Em7 Gmaj7 A A/B] I could have seen through your lies [Em7 Gmaj7 A A/B] I could have stood for no more, [Em7 Gmaj7 A A/B] I could have walked out the door [Em7 Gmaj7 A F#dim7]
But I was a fool to care, I was a fool to care [Em7 Dmaj7, F#7sus4 F#7 Bm7] But I was a fool to care, I was a fool to care [Em7 Dmaj7, F#7sus4 F#7 Bm7] You weren't nothing but a fool to care; just a country fool to care. [repeat and fade]
