Biografia:
Filho de um meeiro do Texas em 1951 aos 22 anos se mudou para Bakersfield e começou a aprimorar sua músa em bandas de honk tonk, que as vezes tinham como principal componente a guitarra vibrante da Fender, Telecaster que se tornou padrão na música country.Owens emplacou muitos primeiros lugares nas paradas de 1965 com sua banda , o Buckaroons.Em 1968 começou a apresentar programas de TV como seu maio sucesso Hee Haw!, o que desgastou sua credibilidade musical.
