So acoustically anyway, Broods play this in the key of B.
I'm not sure of the chord name, but if you play the B on the 7th fret and leave the 1st and 2nd strings open
during the chorus, it gives it that really nice dissident sound. The E minors here are basically just bass
notes to assist with the transition from B to G#m, and can be added and removed as you see fit.
Intro (and basically the whole song): B Em G#m Em B...
B (Em) G#m (Em)
...The nights are getting shorter
B G#m Em
...I don't know where they go
B G#m
...I am getting older
B G#m
...And it's starting to show
(Em) B
And ever since I left my mother
G#m
It's much harder to know
B
How to make my own life here
G#m
How to make my own home
Chorus:
Em B
I don't wanna wake up lonely
(Em) G#m
I don't wanna just be fine
B
I don't wanna keep on hoping
G#m
Forget what I had in mind
(Em) B
I don't wanna wake up lonely
G#m
I don't wanna just be fine
B
I don't wanna keep on hoping
G#m
Forget what I had in mind
Em B
Forget what I had in mind
B G#m
I remember the time when a kiss on the hand was enough
B G#m
'Cause we knew we were free and we knew what it meant to be loved
(Em) B
But ever since I left my father
G#m
It's much harder to know
B
How to live my own life here
G#m
When all I need is home
[Repeat chorus]
And so on. Sorry, I don't normally post these, but this song is freaking great and wanted to post the acoustic
version. Feel free to post corrections
