Apesar de não parecer, Bette Midler é Havaiana, nascida em Honolulu no dia 1º de Dezembro de 1945.
Bette consagrou-se como atriz, cantora e comediante nos Estados Unidos, chegando a contracenar com grandes estrelas da comédia como Cher, Danny DeVito, Lily Tomlin, entre outros.
Ela é conhecida na cultura americana por seus fãs como "The Divine Miss M.", foi nomeada a partir da atriz Bette Davis, mas Davis Pronunciava seu nome em duas sílabas, enquanto Midler usa apenas uma.
