A formação do grupo se deu em Minneapolis (terra também de Hüsker Dü e Soul Asylum) em 1979 quando Paul Westerberg (guitarra, vocal), Tommy Stinson (baixo), Bob Stinson (guitarra) e Chris Mars (bateria) se reuniram pela primeira vez no porão da casa dos irmãos Stinson. Reza a lenda que o primeiro show foi um desastre, uma verdadeira baderna, farra e bebedeira. A banda ainda usava o nome The Impediments e após a apresentação, o promotor daquele show sentenciou “Vocês nunca mais vão tocar nessa cidade de novo!”.

I saw Paul Westerberg in Indianapolis the other night, and he closed with a great version of this song. The lyrics are as close to what he sang in concert as I could get (not exactly what is on the album), with some help from cs.uwp.edu (transcribed by The Skyway).
