The New Pornographers é um grupo vindo do Canadá. O grupo se formou em 1997 em Vancouver. A música deles é altamente influenciada por bandas como The Cars e Cheap Trick, apesar de que suas músicas são dotadas de uma grande complexidade harmônica e melódica. Carl Newman, que escrever a maior parte do material da banda, disse, "Quando eu comecei a compor seriamente, minhas maiores influências eram, como, Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, e Brian Wilson.
