Biografia:
O duo The Kills é formado por Alison Mosshart (aka VV) e por Jamie Hince (aka Hotel, ex-Scarfo). Após o fim de sua antiga banda, o Discount, VV e Hotel começaram a trocar fitas pelo correio. Unidos pela fixação por Andy Warhol e pela atriz Edie Sedgwick, VV atravessou o Atlântico para que pudessem compor mais rapidamente.
Na primavera de 2001, eles lançaram uma demo independente com amostras do que viria a definir seu som cru e sexy, e arrancaram elogios da revista TapeOp Magazine.
