Biografia:
Ex-vocalista do Pavement, uma da bandas mais importantes do cenário alternativo, Stephen Malkums estreou sua carreira a solo em 2001 com o álbum que levava seu nome. Tanto as letras como a sonoridade do debut de Malkmus tinham a cara do Pavement. A partir do 2º album de 2003 (Pig Lib) a sonoridade do ex-Pavement ganha ares experimentais e progressivos, com faixas temáticas e atmosféricas, destaque para a "1% of one".
Em 2008 lança seu 4º álbum, já com uma sonoridade cada vez mais própria e distante dos seu trabalhos anteriores.
