Corria o ano de 1975 em Birmigham, Inglaterra, quando três jovens do bairro negro de Handsworth, descendentes de imigrantes jamaicanos, resolveram canalizar suas energias e frustrações para a música, formando uma banda que viria se tornar uma das mais queridas e respeitadas entre os regueiros do mundo todo, o Steel Pulse. O trio era formado pelo baixista Ronald McQueen e pelos guitarristas Basil Gabbidon e David Hinds, que descreveu a situação da época: "Havia seguidas confrontações da polícia com os jovens da comunidade.
