Theo plays the power chord E at the sixth fret with the additional low E string, and the rest as bar chords. If you watch this video http://www.youtube.com/v/f_lSUtiS8P8&hl=en&fs=1 he shifts his whole hand, but just goes to an Am. This was my best attempt at fixing the lyrics on sites and if it's not correct, it's what I've been singing for years and can't change now. Theo does this thing where he rarely says contractions when he plays stuff live, it's fun and different and you should try it too! I wrote some of those little things in.
E You fell in love with the sunshine B And you took a walk with a boy A And you spent half a year on the verge of tears B Just because nothing ever feels like it did before E So now I understand if you're bitter B Frankly sometimes I do feel the same AB It is amazing how in your own hometown the comfort and the pain A Well, they just grow E This is the field where I realized I loved you A And they just grow EBA This is the diner where we learned that people die before their time sometimes Am The impermanence of it all, don't you let it make you feel too very small
E We saw new constellations with each observation B The night sky grows bigger it seems A But under our ceilings is much more revealing B You'll find what we found in our dreams AE Yes! I dreamt that all my old friends got together again AE And potluck is something somewhere that we've never been B And we said "Oh and it's so strange A The way that people in situations change B You got caught up in some crazy current A Now it seems as though we speak a completely different language BAAm But you'll always be as beautiful as the moment(3x) that we met"
E And so I tried to write a song for my father B San Francisco bus rides that take way too long A He said "you're coming back home boy, Don't feel so alone B Love yourself and you will do no wrong." AAm But the interstate and life go on and on, And on and on and on and on
E And I wrote my dad who likes blackbox recordings B Just to hear what people say A When they realize what's coming B About a second or so away E He said, "it starts with 'oh shit' and it ends with 'I'm sorry'" B And it plays in his head all the time A And I thought, “oh and it's so crazy B The ways we all sabotage our very own peace of mind”
