Matt Corby de Sydney cresceu mergulhado no gospel; sua paixão pela música alimentou-se primeiro por rendições de ‘His Eye Is on the Sparrow’ e depois por um amor por Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Ao longo do caminho seus talentos foram criando forma por experiências ambas mundanas e bastante notáveis: sair em turnê com uma banda da igreja, um trabalho restrito na Subway, bolsas de estudo de música, aberturas de apoio e shows de talento; até seus últimos anos como adolescente ele encontrou-se exausto
