-------------
NOTE - This is almost certainly inspired by Radiohead's Street Spirit / Fade Out.
The riff on the B string and modulation from Em to E major are primary components of both songs.
Because the song contains both E minor and E major, I used non-standard notation for E(major) for clarity.
The mixture of Em and E major create a modulation between the keys of A natural minor and A harmonic minor.

[VERSE 1]
(written with just the Am and Em chords, but played with the above riff)
Am
Hear what I say
Em
The situation was a love gone bad
Left her cold naked on a rainy day
Am
He pulled in the driveway
Em
Two o'clock with the gun that he shot
Ran to the front door, hid it under tiled floor
Am
He heard the sirens far away
Em
Cocked the one that he used on his son
Feeling kinda sorry for the things that he's done

Lights around the block

Tiptoe to the bathroom door
Barefoot, naked, see her body on the floor

The little girl with her eyes so sore
Cries out, "Daddy, I don't want to leave this world"
Am
He hears the angels scream, he says
Em
"Would you open up your wings
Don't let her breathe
Am
Cause if it's all a dream," he says
Em
"Pinch me, wake me, shake me
E(major) E7
But take me somewhere I can't see"
[CHORUS]

And take the blood on my shirt and shoes

[VERSE 4]
Am
It's getting hard to shake
Em
Three dead as he lays in his bed
Open blinds, sees the light, now he's awake
Am
There's so much his heart can take
Em
As sweat bleeds in the pores of his face
Then she rises, just to ask if he's OK
Am
She's blue-eyed and open wide
Em
He cried out, "I love you" as the sun did hit the sky
Am
He picked up his little girl
Em
Said "goodbye" as he looks in her eye
E(major) E7
"And don't worry, baby, dream of bright blue skies"
[CHORUS]
G
Take the blood on my shirt and shoes
Am
