Josh Pyke estava em sua primeira banda aos 12 anos e disputou sua primeira apresentação na frente de 650 pais e alunos em sua graduação da escola primária. Tocando guitarra sua primeira canção veio aos 14 anos. Apesar de sua aptidão para a composição e desempenho musical, ele ficou "sob o radar" ao longo de seus anos de colégio em Fort Street High School. [1]
