James Vernon Taylor (12 de março de 1948, em Belmont, Massachusetts) é um músico norte-americano de folk rock.
Começou sua carreira no final dos anos 60, na onda, então popular, do soft-rock americano. Como não conseguia espaço em seu próprio país, foi tentar a sorte na Inglaterra, sendo um dos primeiros contratados da gravadora dos Beatles, a Apple Records. Mas as gravações que realizou no período 68/69 não chamaram a atenção e ele voltou para os EUA.

AGDA Now they had not been standing but a minute or two AGDE When out of his knapsack a fiddle he drew AF#mDA And the tune that he played made the valleys all ring ADEA "O hark," cried the maiden, "hear the Nightingale sing."
AGDA "O maiden, fair maiden, it's time to give o'er." AGDE "O no, kind soldier, please play one tune more AF#mDA For I'd rather hear your fiddle at the touch of one string ADEA Than to see the waters gliding, hear the Nightingale sing."
