Joey Ryan

His voice is soulful and unique, his lyrics personal and captivating, but Joey Ryan might also be the smartest singer-songwriter on the scene. Unlike many in his field, just a few years ago Joey was on his way to becoming a neuroscientist. Fascinated with the workings of the brain, he was a straight-A student at the University of California Berkley, about to begin a neuroscience Ph.D. program. During college, though, Joey had begun playing music with his friends and they had formed a band, playing at parties and local bars.
