Biografía:
Nació el 15 de diciembre de 1949 en Flat Creek (Missouri).
Es conocido por la serie Corrupción en Miami en el papel de Sonny Crockett junto a Philip Michael Thomas. La serie duró cinco temporadas (1984-1989)
Estuvo casado dos veces con Melanie Griffith, con la que tiene una hija, Dakota. Tuvo una relación con Barbra Streisand, con quien grabó un dueto, Till I Loved You.
Grabó dos discos: Heartbeat en 1986 y Let It Roll en 1989, con Bruce Kulick guitarrista de Kiss. Ambos materiales fueron editados por el sello CBS, hoy Sony BMG.
