Dire Straits fue una banda de Rock británica, fundada en 1977 por Mark Knopfler (guitarra y voz), David Knopfler (guitarra), John Illsley (bajo) y Pick Withers (batería), con Ed Bicknell como director.
Dire Straits grabó y realizó su primer álbum homónimo en 1978 con poca aceptación hasta que cinco meses después se lanzó un sencillo, Sultans of Swing, que convirtió el disco en uno de los más vendidos. El segundo álbum, Communiqué se lanzó poco después; estos dos primeros trabajos configuraron el sonido de la banda.

This is a chords for album version of the song. Please note that live version contains exact same verses, but on album part of verses alternates between [B-C#m-B-C#] and [B-C#m-B/D#-C#/F] all three times. Live version also have [E-F#m] progression after 'All I can do' instead of [E/G#-A]. Note suspended chords in the intro, you can simplify it to B and B/A or play it like sus in the song too.
Two chords in particular — F#m9b5 and D13#11 are very tricky to play on a guitar, so I replaced these with more approrpiate Am6 and D9. Good luck!
