Como "Death Cab for Cutie", Gibbard editó un primer cassette llamado You Can Play These Songs With Chords.

AmC I want to live where soul meets body AmC And let the sun wrap its arms around me AmC And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing GAm And feel, feel what its like to be new
C Cause in my head there’s a greyhound station AmC Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations AmC So they may have a chance of finding a place G where they’re far more suited than here
[Chorus]
AmCG I do believe it’s true AmCG That there are roads left in both of our shoes AmC If the silence takes you G Then I hope it takes me too
AmC I cannot guess what we'll discover AmC We turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels AmC But I know our filthy hand can wash one another’s G And not one speck will remain
[Chorus]
AmCG I do believe it’s true AmCG That there are roads left in both of our shoes AmC If the silence takes you G Then I hope it takes me too
(Strum loudly) Am @ AmCAm @ Am (Listen to song for strumming Where soul meets body to know how to strum this part) Am @ AmC Where soul meets body G Where soul meets body
[Chorus]
AmCG I do believe it’s true AmCG That there are roads left in both of our shoes AmC If the silence takes you G Then I hope it takes me too
(Strum lightly) AmCG A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere AmCG A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere AmCG A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
