Blondie emergió de la escena underground de Nueva York de fines de los 70, y logró hacer realmente masivo el sonido que provenía del punk, encabezando la movida más estilizada de esa vertiente que la prensa llamaría new wave.
La banda encontró una indeleble marca registrada en la imagen y actitud de su cantante, la magnética Debbie Harry y a nivel musical se permitió coquetear con gracia entre distintos ritmos como el punk, el glam rock, el sonido de grupos de los 60 como The Ronettes, y la música disco.
