[Verse] D It was quite early one morning G Hit me without warning DG I went to hear the general speak A I was standing for the anthem G Banners all around him F#mG Confetti made it hard to see D Put my footsteps on the pavement G Starved for entertainment DG Four seasons of revolving doors A So sick of being honest G I'll die like Dylan Thomas F#mG A seizure on the barroom floor
[Chorus] GDAG I’m getting greedy with this private hell GDAG I'll go it alone, but that's just as well
[Verse] D These cats are scared and feral G The flag pins on their lapels DG The truth is anybody’s guess A These talking heads are saying G "The king is only playing F#mG a game of four dimensional chess"
[Solo] DGDG AGF#mG
[Verse] D There's flowers in the rubble G The weeds are gonna tumble DG I'm lucid but I still can't think A I'm strapped into a corset G Climbed into your corvette F#mG I'm thirsty for another drink
D If it's advertised, we'll try it G And buy some peace and quiet DG And shut up at the silent retreat A They say you’ve gotta fake it G At least until you make it F#mG That ghost is just a kid in a sheet
[Chorus] GDAG I’m getting used to these dizzy spells DAG I'm taking a shower at the Bates Motel GDAG I’m getting greedy with this private hell GDAG I'll go it alone, but that's just as well
